Faith | Works

Living Faith Living faith is genuine trust in Jesus Christ that results in a transformed life. It rests fully on grace, but it never remains alone.

Scriptures:

  • “By grace you have been saved through faith… not a result of works” (Ephesians 2:8–9)
  • “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works” (Ephesians 2:10)
  • “Faith working through love” (Galatians 5:6)
  • “I am the vine… whoever abides in Me bears much fruit” (John 15:5)

Living faith produces obedience, repentance, love, and perseverance—not perfection, but direction.

Dead Faith Dead faith is is a confession without heart-trust and without fruit. It claims Christ but does not follow Him.

Key Scriptures:

  • “Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead” (James 2:17)
  • “Even the demons believe—and shudder!” (James 2:19)
  • “This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me” (Matthew 15:8)
  • “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord…’” (Matthew 7:21)

Dead faith talks about Jesus but does not submit to Him. It produces no spiritual fruit and no lasting change.

Legalism Legalism trusts in moral effort, religious behavior, or rule-keeping instead of Christ’s finished work.

Key Scriptures:

  • “Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?” (Galatians 3:3)
  • “By works of the law no human being will be justified” (Romans 3:20)
  • “Apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5)

Legalism may look holy, but it is rooted in self-reliance, pride, or fear—not grace.
